This week we will be learning the letter Uu. We will read Umbrella, and Up, Up, and Away. In our literacy center we will work on spelling and writing our names, identifying rhymes, and reading CVC words. In our science center we will be researching animals that live in the Amazon rainforest, and we will compare facts from informational texts to folktales about the animals. We will re-read Jabuti: A Trickster Tale from the Amazon and The Great Kapok Tree. In our math center we will work on simple addition and subtraction stories, create patterns, and play a board game using a 1-5 die. In social studies we will be working on our Communities project; this week we will explore India, and we will learn about the Holi celebrations. In religion we will continue to celebrate the season of Lent, and we will read and dramatize stories from the Gospels.
- I want to thank Ms. Ervin for her special visit to our classroom last Wednesday. She read the book, Strictly No Elephants, and facilitated an art activity (treehouse) to remind the children that “all are welcome”!
- If you haven’t done so already, please send in a few Ziplock bags (gallon size) to keep in your child’s cubby in the event of a clothing change. As New York moves away from using plastic grocery bags, we will be in need of ziplock bags to send home wet clothes. Please be sure to send in new bags whenever wet clothes are sent home. Thank you for your cooperation.
- Pizza will be sold on Wednesday for $2.50 per slice.
Have a great week!
