Week of October 28, 2019

Dear Parents,

This week is Spirit Week! Please check the flyer that went out last week regarding the theme for each day!

This week in our literacy center we will learn the letter Gg. We will read Goodnight Moon, Goodnight Gorilla, and Goldilocks and the Three Bears. We will also read and dramatize The Three Billy Goats Gruff; we will retell this story in a number of ways, including in the block center where we will build bridges, and use small, medium, large animals for our dramatizations. We will also begin to work on identifying rhyming words. In our math center we will be working with numbers 1-5, and we will duplicate and extend AB patterns. In social studies we will continue to explore appropriate ways to express our feelings. In religion we will continue to explore the lives of the saints, and we will celebrate All Saints Day on Friday, November 1st.

  • Last week our class participated in a cooking project with the Pre-K and Kindergarten classes! The children made cookies! Ask your child about the activity!
  • Wednesday is Halloween! Our class will be participating in an in-school parade, and we will “trick or treat” at the upper grade classrooms. We will also have a party in our classroom after lunch. (Half day students are invited to stay for a full day to participate!) Please consider sending in snacks for the children to share during our party (fruit, cookies, chips, pretzels, etc.). Please be sure that all food items are nut free! Thank you! You may find the letter regarding the Halloween party posted on the Nursery page of the school website.
  • Progress Reports will be sent home on Tuesday. Please sign and return them on Wednesday. Your child will receive a complete Report Card in December.
  • Now that the weather is chilly, please send your child to school with a small blanket for naptime. Your child may also bring in a soft toy for rest time. We will send home the blankets each Friday to be cleaned. (Please note that we have a polka dot blanket that did not have a name on it. If it is yours, please let me know!)

                  Have a great week!
